Solid Digital’s 2019 Year in Review

This year was full of opportunities for our team to work on new and interesting projects, collaborate with great clients, and have some fun along the way.

As each year passes it seems to go by faster than the year before. 2019 was no different here at Solid Digital. This past year has been full of exciting accomplishments and growing relationships. It has brought us new challenges, new team members, and new adventures as a company.

We’re thankful for the opportunity to work with so many great people this past year. Thank you to our incredible clients, who trust in us to add value and help meet their goals. Thank you to our community for providing great places to live, work, and serve. Finally, thank you to our amazing team, our families, and all who contributed to make 2019 an amazing year!

Our Work

2019 brought some amazing opportunities to our team to showcase our knowledge and skills:

Tillable: Website Marketing Strategy, Design & Development

An innovator in the farmland rental space, Tillable needed a website that reflected their fresh identity while appealing to audiences past, present, and future.

AV Chicago: Branding & Marketing Partnership

A local leader in audio visual event production services. AV Chicago needed a strategic partner to help them rally their team around the crystallized identity and differentiate themselves as the clear frontrunner in a crowded field.

IMO: Website Design & Development

With a revamped product profile, Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO) needed a fresh communications strategy. So we worked to provide a vibrant new visual identity and an award winning website.

Awards include Elementor Sites of the Month, Gold Marcom Award in the Website Design Category, Silver Davey Award in the Websites – Health & Health Services Category, and a Silver W3 Award on the Health Care Services Category.

We are so proud of the work we were able to do in 2019 and the relationships we built with our clients. For more of our cool projects we worked on in 2019 check out our work page here.

Our Team

Culture Committee

It’s no secret that we are passionate about our culture at here at Solid Digital, and that’s why this year we implemented our Culture Committee. This gives individuals the opportunity to take part in the planning and promotion of our culture. They also bring in new ideas that allow us to implement more diverse activities. The Culture Committee rotates its members every couple of quarters and new members work hand-in-hand with our Director of Experiences to make it all possible.

“The creation of the Culture Committee has been a highlight of my year, as it brings us together as a team to come up with events and activities for our whole company to enjoy. It has also given me a better understanding of the needs and differences of the team members in our Chicago office.”

  – Diana Martinez, Director of Experiences

New Faces in 2019

2019 was an amazing year for us in terms of new employee onboarding. This year we added several new key players that bring invaluable skills and experiences that help solidify and round out our team so we can deliver more value to our costumers.

Our 2019 Philosophies

Provide Value with Digital Growth®

Digital Growth® continues to be a big part of Solid Digital, our services and programs are directly tied to Digital Growth® and the value we are able to provide to our clients who are in our programs. There are a lot of exciting things that will be coming in 2020 when it comes to Digital Growth® and we can’t wait to share them with the public.

Building Strong Partnerships

Working with the right people can be a magical experience. We have become more intentional about the partnerships we build and the people we work with. At the end of the day, we want to ensure that we are aligned because alignment allows us to have stronger relationships, make bolder decisions, take bigger risks, and deliver the value that our clients expect. We want to ensure that we are the right partner for our clients because we want to build partnerships that last, where we can continue to provide value well after our first encounter.

Create Room for Innovation

We work in an industry that is constantly changing, technologies are evolving daily, and processes get updated all the time to accommodate these changes. Our team is passionate about keeping up with the changes, learning to navigate new technologies, and implementing new processes. We are also very passionate about creating stuff, so we decided that it was time to make room to innovate. We have always been able to work on fun internal projects, but now more than ever we wanted to emphasize this and create a space for our team to work on those innovative ideas, bringing them to life. If 2019 was all about creating that pathway and brainstorming together, 2020 is very much going to be about implementation. Be on the lookout for some very exciting announcements.

Looking Forward to 2020!

Looking back we have been able to accomplish so much in 2019. We got to work with great clients on some fun and some challenging projects, delivering value every step of the way. We added new members to our team, we created a committee to implement more culture-related activities, we made room for innovation, we achieved our strategic plan goals for the year, and we are ready to take on 2020!

The platform makes me want to dive into learning about how to expand and refine our technology stack. O’Reilly Learning makes me want to run into a difficult problem, so that I can use the books available to solve the issue. My problem with books is that you can never have enough of them, combined with the fact that technical books are generally expensive. Having access to all the books of a publisher for a flat fee is fantastic.

In order to really leverage the content available, I’ll be creating a blog post a quarter covering one of the topics I’m learning about. The posts will double as training material for the Tech Department. We often use public blog posts internally. Doing so is an efficient way to combine client education, employee education, and marketing. For example Derek’s post about page builders is a great link for both clients and employees. Clients will generally learn more about what a page builder can do, while Solid devs gain a new perspective on how using a page builder increases efficiency and shifts the page building workload away from the tech department. This allows devs to spend time on more interesting problems. An example would be the other services we offer.

One of the core services at Solid is helping clients achieve Digital Growth. We’re always improving our services, and Digital Growth is no different. In general the way we pick our technologies for a project is by finding the tools that best fit the job. This leads us to higher quality products than simply sticking with the technologies we are familiar with. By having access to Oreilly’s broad suite of content, I saw an opportunity to learn and explore many possible avenues for improving our Digital Growth service’s technical support. For example, we are exploring the possibility of building one of the supporting platforms for the Digital Growth service in Laravel backed by PostgreSQL. Oreilly has several good Laravel and PostgreSQL books and video series.

Having access to such a broad library of technical works is a great way to gain inspiration and get excited about innovation. So, for the next year I’ll be diving into topics as varied as machine learning, functional reactive programming, and JavaScript design patterns. Stay tuned!

Solid Digital’s 2019 Year in Review

This year was full of opportunities for our team to work on new and interesting projects, collaborate with great clients, and have some fun along the way.

Company culture continues to evolve daily as new employees, clients, and other environmental factors are introduced. For us here at Solid Digital, culture is something we focus on a lot, and having two offices on opposites sides of the country has certainly made it challenging (but not impossible) to create an cohesive team culture.

Heading 2 Here

We are genuinely very passionate about this stuff and we enjoy working with passionate people. Everyone on our team is individually driven to be better at what they do. If you hire Solid Digital, it means there’s something about us and our culture that aligns with yours. We like long term relationships where we both see a lot of value coming out of the strategies we’re implementing, where we achieve Digital Growth.

Heading 3 looks like this and will likely be longer because it is used as a description

  2. If you hire
  3. Solid Digital
  4. A number can go a longer way than what we’re used to. Just don’t let it silly willy – or you may regret it.
